m5 hyd problems

I have a 62 m5 I cant get the hydrolics to work. It is a factory 3
point tractor. It was working fine this fall but when I needed to
put out hay this winter the 3 pnt wouldn"t lift. I put new seals
and bearing in the pump and still nothing. When I loosen the
power steering line it burps air but never seems to build
pressure. When i loosen the feed to the control valves it
doesn"t get anything no air or fluid. Any help would be greatly
appreciated

Does the pto work? If it does turn, pry a 2x4 against it to see if you can stop it, be careful, I'm thinking that the splines are shot in the hub of the flywheel. If it doesn't turn this explains why the pump isn't pumping. chris

Something you could also check is the coupler between the hydraulic pump and the drive shaft to it. It seems they updated them from the 5 Stars in the parts book. The 5 Stars had problems with the small coupler sleeve and the spines on the hyraulic pump wearing out. You would have to remove the hydraulic pump to check it.

The coupler is ok I just had it out when I resealed the pump. I wasn't able to find new wear plates or I would of replaced them also. The pto seems to work fine it does however creep when the pto is off. I assumed that was normal? I am pretty sure thepump is turning. Thanks for your input.

Does your M5 have an early Webster pump with one line coming out the right side? Or is it the later style with two larger lines and a small one coming out of it?

It is a webster gear pump. It has 2 lines come out of it pressurized one goes to the power steering and the other feeds the remotes3 point. It take in fluid through the center of the back. I got all the seAls at an agco dealer.

Is there a possibility that one of the control levers has been pulled back too far and the spool is stuck open? Also check the elbow that goes from the bottom left of the reservoir to the filter. The inside can collapse even if it looks good on the outside. Because the top of the filter is above the oil level in the reservoir an air leak could cause the pump not to prime.

DON'T run that tractor until you correct your problem, can destroy a good pump in the blink of an eye. Sounds like you may have an air lock. Call 920 295 3278 for help, Dale and Doug.

I am sure the pump is destroyed. Anyone know where to get another pump at or even wear plates. The pump got hot so im not sure if the gears will be reusable or not.
