Moline 1952 ZAU head

A question was asked about the engine. Guy said he has a ZAU with sideways valves. Said it is not a "L" or "F" head maybe a Hurricane head. I am not into Molines and have no idea. Our Club is raffeling a 1950 Z this year. It is on display to sell tickets and this is where the question originated. Any explaination would be helpful. Thanks
 
it is a "Side-Valve" engine. Moline had a unique engine that used enlongated rocker arms & NO pushrods. the Bottom ran directly off the Cam shaft, the top directly to the Valves, which layed sideways on top of the engine.

The Twin City JT ran the F head engine.
 
Thanks for the info, I will pass it on-- Seems some of the old tractor Mfg. used various engines. My old 2- cyl. were all the same. Glad we can get all this info from this site. Thanks

Very neat engine, I've seen photos of engines on display like this, back in the 40's.

I've seen the U engine that was a factory cutaway, that gave me the idea to do this one. Guess I should be taking it to more MM shows. I also have all the heads except for the RE226E mounted in between the engines.
 
I thought that was yours John....you are the first person I though of when I saw the picture.
