Butane fuel for MM

Can any one remember years ago when MM advertised their tractors to burn butane?
I don't know if they still make the butane fuel or not. I have been told the only difference between it and propane is that butane doesn't have the additive to keep it from freezing in the winter.
Also talking about MMs, do you remember when the advertising would show your hands palm up that MM was visible?
 
Harvey 2, yes I can remember well those ads for the M-M s in the palms of your hands. I guess that 'dates' me? I was a kid when that ad showed up.I have showed that 'trick ' to younger M-M collectors, They are impressed.

IIRR, Butane was used in the warmer areas, It would not work in the colder regions of the country.
 
Back in the 60"s I was told by a plant employee that butane would not vaporize below 32 degrees(this was straight butane).Propane would vaporize down to 44 below zero. What was called butane for domestic use (household) was a butane propane mix.It was also used as engine fuel as well as propane.
 
Can you please post a picture of the mm on your palms, wanna see that, never seen it before
 
I can remember my dad using butane in the summer and propane in the winter. Butane would not vaporize in the winter, but I understand that it was denser and had more BTU's per gallon and cheaper too.
 

We had two "butane" 4020s that I helped Dad wear out when I was a kid.

That was all we ever called it.

I'm not sure what the actual % mix was that we were getting out on the farm, but I never knew of the term propane until I was about in college.

It apparently isn't too sensitive to cold because we would run them pretty well year round - more in the summer, but still through the winter, too...

I don't have a picture of the hands.
If you turn your hands with the palms up look at the lines in your palm and they form an M on each hand and use your imaganation to see the MM.
Let me know if this works. If it doesn't I will try to get a picture of the hands to you.
 
Oh ok I see it now, thanks for explanation, I looked at my old mm brochures but didn't see it in any of them
