I have a u and a UB that both have the live power assembly integrated in the left side brake. Neither one are functioning. I was wondering if I could remove this from the UB an convert it to just a normal brake assembly an use the pieces to repair the one on the u. Just wondering if it can be removed an regular brake be installed in its place. Thanks for any help.

It can be done, but from I was told its quite a project. I don't remember what all was involved, but essentially you're tearing apart half the rear end. Someone else should be able to tell you more, but my 2 cents is just leave it alone and find your needed parts elsewhere. I don't know much about the live power clutch on those but I've heard a lot of them got bolted tight or welded to keep them from slipping. Why do yours not function? I have a UB Special Diesel with one that doesnt work and I've never dove into it. We've been concentrating on getting it running instead LOL.

To convert back to original. Original bull pinion shaft has to be reinstalled. To do so you would need original shaft from non lpto U. Transmission housing top, fuel tank, left rear wheel, left brake assembly and left axle housing have to removed to change pinion shaft. The only other way to keep it from slipping is to weld shafts together. Usually the brake seal leaks oil onto clutch and saturates disks causing slippage. The setup is not true live as all it is doing is slipping rear drive.
