Bought a 4 bottom plow today, couldnt find any numbers on it to speak of I think I found "Moline" on one of the beams... Somebody had painted it green and yellow..
The paint is comming off the spoke wheels and its kinda gold colored underneath the yellow. Any you guys got any tips for me.....jdadoug

Yes post a picture if you can. Im betting it is a model "DF". If I remember correctly the AF was a 2 to 3 bottom, the DF was the 3 to 4 bottom, and the FF was the 4 to 5 bottom. If Im not correct someone correct me please.

One more try....

Judging from the hitch Im guessing it is a base 3 bottom with the add on 4th bottom, which I think would make it a model "DF". The hydraulic lift is nice to have on them. Those plows were all red with the wheels being prairie gold. The two halves of the hose clip (the two parts that clamp on the hoses on the hose mast and the swivel bracket it is mounted to) are silver colored and, as far as I know, the two mounting brackets and the hose mast its self (the part with the spring bolted on the drawbar) is prairie gold as well.

Alan, thanks for your reply, well..... all you guys! You are right, there is red paint below the green and there is prairie gold under the yellow on the wheels.
I had a friend that was going to haul this plow to the scrap yard, I figured it was worth saving. If you havent noticed by my handle I'm a JD guy........ friend shot me a cell phone pict. and said come and get this John Deere plow.
It was raining and we were in a hurry, and from first glance it does look a lot like a #555 JD plow. Then the wife says, I'm seeing some red under the paint honey???? Well since it was on the trailer and I had paid the guy I said I wasnt going to unload it and let it go to the scrap yard. Its for sale if anybody wants it.
I attached the only photo of the numbers that I could find on it. jdadoug

Gee I wouldnt have known that by your handle :) Im guessing your name is doug....and you own a JD A. I honestly thought it was a JD when I first looked at the picture just because of the green paint. Very glad you saved it.

Sorry guys that I havent gotten back sooner, been plowing snow.... The plow is located in Randolph Ks. (thats just north of Manhattan Ks.)
