MM Road Grader

I have only seen u road graders, might be other models, don't think they bring a ton of money, seen ive two for sale, think they were asking 6500 for the one not sure about the other one, don't think there's to many around though.

The MM designation for their graders was UTSG. There were only around 100 made by MM. The serial number prefix is 039. Most American Grader models used various tractors to power the units. IH etc. They were not true MM.

Don"t know what factory options there were, but I"ve seen a couple of U based graders and at least one G based grader - but I think they were all aftermarket conversions kind of what you see on Farmalls. Can"t remember manufacturer of conversion, but the G based grader was on eBay a few years back - I think it was in Maine or at least northeast somewhere - Pictures looked really good - but too far for a Louisiana boy to go - otherwise I would have bid. I don"t remember if it met reserve or sold but I don"t remember it going too high - maybe $4000 +/- .

do you have one? Post pics if you do, we would love to see what it is. MM provided a few chassis specifically for Graders, a couple tractor in a cradle, and at least one "modern" style "rear-engine" model. mostly U's but also a G-Industrial.

Took this pic of a "R" Minneapolis Moline converted to a Road Grader. This was at the Steam Show in Dover, OH about five years ago or so.

I know the two tractors in the background (RTE and V). They're ours. I think that R grader is from New York. Nice picture!

Brian you are right, that my friend Georges grader and I believe he just found another one, be kinda interesting to know how many were made. I just talked to him and he said the grader was made by the M B Corp in New Holstein Wi.

American made a grader based on the U, they had individual serial numbers, with a UG designation on the serial number tag. Only 100 were made, mine is serial number 079. Parts are interchangeable with the U industrial models. One of the MM books has a nice picture of a restored one. Mine is still waiting to get done. Maybe this year....

Was the R grader made by MM or a converted by a different company? Did they have their own serial number prefix?

MM did NOT build any graders, they were all Converted by other companies, or added MM engines to their units.

1950 UTSG sn 0395000001-50. 1951 03900051-100 suggests MM made them. These sn's were "set aside" for grader installation.

they were a power package, before MM used the term "power package." They were stripped down units to be sent out & a third party to install in Grader.

Thanks for the serial number breakdown, never saw that before. Mine is 039000079 making it a 1951. I wonder how many are left?

There is a grader in my area that has sat a long time. The rear is a GB the engine and hood are U. It has a cab. I'll post a pic if I can get down that way soon.
