I use the adapter for the spin on oil filters and have noticed that the filters now have the anti-drain back feature on them. Will this be a problem since the oil flow shown in the manual shows the oil entering the filter from the outside and exiting from the center. It is my under standing that in an automobile the oil flows in from the center and exits the outside. If this is true the anti drainback will prevent the filter from working properly in an R or Z. Is there a problem here? |

| j wuertz, Do not use a Chevy car filter with a #60A23 adapter, placed on a RE or EE engine. Chevy filters are designed to flow from the center outward. The car filters have a rubber flap that they refer to as an anti drainback feature. Use only the filters designed for the GM pickup trucks. All MM engine filters flow from the outside toward the center. An anti drainback flap makes a car spin on filter useless on any MM engine.I personally recommend the NAPA #1061 filter or the WIX #51061 for use with my adapters. They are both the same filter. You can also use the #(5)1794 filter if you wish to paint the filter and closely duplicate the original canister dimensions. Be warned. The larger filter has the exact same amount of filter media as the smaller filter. You also pay triple the price for no more than a little more tin. If you have an adapter made by someone else; I suggest you ask them what filter they recommend. I have seen adapters made for the Ford, Dodge, and many different modern filters. Happy Motoring. | I thought oil flow was always from outside in. That is why people cut filters open to see what all trash they have collected in the outer can.

| Yes, it will never fill with oil. There is a chevrolet filter that does not have the drain back and that is the one you need. I forget the part number. |

| I don't remember the number but I used a Chevy big block filter similar to the same size as the canister. How can you test the filter to know if it is equipped with a back flow preventer? |
