bill from scotland 01-20-2013 11:13:32 81.131.121.83 Report to Moderator	I want to split my MF 97(MM705) at the bellhousing to gain access to the clutch etc. I have a trolly frame made to support the tractor when pulling the front and back apart. Obviously I need to remove all bolts and dismantle hyd pipes and steering. Are there any other issues I need to look out for on these models or should it all be very straight forward. I know she's a heavy old thing but should she pri apart fairly easily? Thanks Bill [Reply]   [No Email]

Used an engine hoist on the back, angle iron frame bolted to the front. It"s also suspended to the frame of the barn. It was a work in progress for several months, as we had to locate parts. glgrumpy 01-20-2013 11:29:20 50.129.205.26 Report to Moderator	Re: MM705 Split in reply to bill from scotland, 01-20-2013 11:13:32   If a wide front, make sure to put blocks of wood or ? on each side of front axle pivot. If you don't the whole engine section will flop over to one side and possibly all the way to floor! Almost did that on my R MM first time pulling apart. I wedged blocks of wood in that space and hose clamped them a couple of times to hold in place. worked good. Use some long bolts/studs used in place of couple case bolts to glide it off and especially back on to line stuff up and go thru seals and bearings good. Studs can be up to 12" long and should be big, same size as the case bolts. Looking at 1/2 to 5/8" I assume. They wont hold tractor up, just act as a guide. Hope you have good upper support, don't rely on rafters in garage to hold! [Reply]  [No Email]

I have also built in an adjustable jacking system that allows me to adjust it to the underside height of the tractor. All of this should allow me to support and slide back either the front or the rear of the tractor, the other half will have the wheels blocked and a static lifting jack to keep it supported.
