I was wondering if any of you diesel junkies could help me with an issue I am having. I have a 55 GBD with a tired engine. I would like to swap engine blocks with a gas 504 that I have.(cast #1010248) Is this possible? Will they bolt up directly? Please help. Thanks

The gas jugs will slide right on the crankcase. The problem is that the diesel jugs have extra studs to hold the heads on. I would suggest boring the jugs. Pistons should be available in either .030 or .060 over.

Bore the blocks out. Get 900 diesel pistons. I think you can get them in. O40 over and that will make right at 466 cubes. I did that to one i used to work on and it made a very good running engine with the extra compression. Give Wendell a call and he can set you up.
