I do know that the engines like the 504 on my 705 is a big bell and then the G1000s and so forth have small bell engine I have read some on this forum about that. I was thinking that the 504 engines were basically the same. Unless I read it wrong my manual shows a head for the non diesels with 9 studs instead of 7?? For the G1000 g900s ect. I am just curious about this.

The early spark ignition engines used 7 head bolt studs and then one 1/8" pipe per head that supplied oil up to the rockers. The later engines that used the 30 series cylinder heads (10A4230, 10A4231, 10A4232 etc.) had the same 7 head bolts but the 1/8" pipe was replaced with a gun drilled head bolt stud and another normal stud in the same position on the other end of the head. Hope this helps. Jeff
