U GB hydraulics

I thought that to but the manual says to put MM hydraulic oil in the reservor. I wouldn"t want the to mix with crank case oil

Im sure it was meant more to be a vent than anything else as there are no other openings to provide a breather in the reservoir.

It is mainly a vent. But if the Hyd oil did expand enough to push out fluid, two drops of hyd oil in the engine is not going to hurt anything. This set up prevents any dust from being sucked into the hyd system, and any messy collection of dirt on the outside of a normal vent from oil fumes. Of all of the thousands of MM tractors out there with this set up, there has never been any kind of failure to my knowledge.
MMDEL

MMDEL is correct about that copper line to the crankcase , just to vent the hyd. system.
One other thing to add to this topic . If a loader is mounted on these tractors , you need more hyd. oil capicity. If you add another hyd tank , that will work , BUT you have to block off that vent pipe or the extra fluid will go into the crankcase. Do not worry about the venting , it works fine! Done that way back in the 1960 s. clint
