Hello; OK, I've had our G1000 apart since last yr. Time to get it back working. Fellow I know, said it's in the hyd. motor. I took that apart, and could not find any thing wrong. Also took the power steering pump apart, ck's out fine. Only one thing left....the seals in the bolster...?? Has anyone heard of using the breather port to bypass? Something about running a hyd. hose back to the pump? Any tips on doing this job? Also where to get the telfon backers and seals? Thanks for any information. Bobmn. Oh, I should add...when this first happened,if you would just touch the steering wheel, the frt wheels would go lock to lock by themselves!

your buddy told you correctly it's most likely in the hydramotor, those old units can be tricky to set up right because of the spool centering. they use a torsion shaft that can get twisted to much and not neutral the spool. unless oil is coming out of the sector vent don't worry with the bypass hose thing.

Mikey h; Thank you for your reply. Well, there isn't any oil coming out of the vent. I have the frt end all apart, cause of 3 broken bolts I have to repair, and to fix the radiator. The reason I was asking about the seals up frt,is I read some place, they can go bad and the fluid bypasses the seals and the wheels go lock to lock.Have you ever heard of this? I have to book and a warm shop,so all I need to do is spend some time out there!! Well, that and clean off a couple of benchs to work on! Thanks again. BobMn. PS. I'll be asking more info later, I'm sure!!

a little advice on the teflon seals the book says to use a hose clamp on them, also you need to wrap some thin shim stock under the clamp and let it sit awhile any cut or abrasion on them and you will have oil coming out the vent

Mikeyh; Thank you for the shim tip!! Today, I got the bolster out of the tractor, and apart. I'll see if I can get some pics to upload. I put a couple of benches on wheels. I used one to wheel over and lower the heavy bolster down on it. Thanks Bobmn

MMDEL; Boy, I wish!!!! At least when they where made in the
USA! As far as having TOO many clamps......I did bodywork all
my life, so we could farm all our life!! Also do fab. a lot of
our own stuff. Also, when working by yourself the,
more
clamps the better!! Have a good one. Bobmn
