M5 motor options

I have a M5 gas with a junk motor, it usually just runs a pump, had a friend tell me to use his 605 LP power unit motor and it will bolt up, except the sheet metal, which does not matter to me, it just sits and never moves. Does this sound right? Will this work?

No a 605 is a large bell engine and the M5 is a small bell. Is it gas or diesel? They are not too hard or expensive to overhaul or you can get a 336 power unit to bolt into it.

No the 605 won't even come close to bolting in. The easiest
way to explain it is if the engine was in a row crop 2 wheel
drive tractor with a foot clutch, it will bolt up to the bell
housing, 4 or 6 cylinders. There's a lot more to it, but that's
the general idea, just for somewhere to start.
