Yesterday my collector friends Robert (left) and Lyle (right) came over to get the items that I hauled home for them from the Gene Miller sale..We got to talking and decided to see if my $700 GVI diesel would run..I had no idea if the engine was even free....All they said at the sale was that the engine had been overhauled..
We checked it over and decided to pull it a few feet..It started right up and we let it run 5 seconds..That was a wonderful sound..The fuel is old and stale..I drained nearly 20 gallons out of it..I want to change the engine oil and put new oil and fuel filters on it...It probably hasnt ran in 15-20 years..
If you will notice the left side of the engine..It has an electric fuel pump by the left oil filter...Also the hydraulic oil tank is home built..
The bottom 3 pictures taken from the sale bill show the (3) GVI LP tractors that went for scrap for $275 to $600 each..It makes me sick to look at the nicest one knowing it will be scrapped..One of them is the 18th one built..
