M670 rear main bearing

I tore down my 670 super diesel to replace the main bearings due to exvesive crankshaft end play. I had one heck of a time getting the rear bolts out of the rear bearing cap, ended up grinding a socket down to about nothing to get them out.

I still can not get the rear main cap out of the crankcase. It hits of the cast lip on the bottom of the crankcase.

How the heck do you get it out? I've been trying but it seems that there is no way it will come out, spliting the tractor would not appear to help. I do not want to remove the crank just replace the bearings.

That "cast lip" is the oil seal. Scrape off the gasket and you will see two 12 point countersunk bolts. Remove them and then remove the rear seal.

That makes sense thank you! I feel so stupid! I saw the holes but they were full of silicon from somone putting it on the oil pan gasket.
