i have a gb that i pull with and in the heavy classes it pops out of first gear and it wont stay in second if it pulls a disk or anything would a lose pinion gear cause this beacase i know that needs to be tightened up..

Most likely cause is the shifter rails wore between the notches and the notches them selves wore. Small welding rods and a flap disk on a 4 1/2" grinder can fix it up in about 30 minutes after you remove the tranny cover.
Other problem could be very worn gears or worn splined shaft the gears ride on. Most likely the shifter rails will be the problem. Make a bracket to hold the shifter in gear.

i dont think its the shifting rods beacuse i fixed the detents and it helped alot but there is alot of noise from the trany

Doesn't sound good. Sounds like you may need to pull the top cover and look for bad bearings. There is a needle bearing that goes in the inside of the pinion shaft on the end of the top shaft that the slider gears run on.

This is a "U" tranny with cover off.
My bearing at end of imput shaft inside larger gear was distroyed. I amagine it would of let shaft dropp and wobble.
