single block U puller

I bought kind of an interesting little U puller today. Its not a red nose tractor but it does have a single block. It has an LE401 crankshaft that looks to have been turned down to fit the stock U rods,I dont think its offset ground. It has 4 3/8 M&W pistons in it with a 1/2 inch spacer between the block and the crankcase. When I took the plugs out I discovered I needed a 13/16 socket not a 7/8, It has small plugs Like a chevrolet, I beleve they are AC 45 and there are no adapters. Whats the deal with the small plugs? Late replacement? LP? I have never seen an HC single head with small plugs myself. Anyone played around with a single block puller? How many ponys is it good for??? 75??

WOW! I must have really steped on some toes with this one! I just got a restricted phone call and the guy on the outher end told me to stop posting adds on yesterdays tractors and that I didnt know what I was talking about! Well, If the coward who restricted his phone number, Insulted me them hung up would like to come to my shop and see this tractor I would be happy to show it to him, as long as he agrees not to burn down my house and kill my family! I may have to go back to pulling olivers. You MM guys are a tuff bunch!

Don't let it get to ya- there's idiots in every bunch, and I've ran into a few on YT, but most everybody here are good folks. I've always gotten the answers I needed here, but some just don't like to give up the info. They learned it somewhere from somebody- you'd think they would return the favor. I don't claim to know much, but what I do know is free to anyone who needs help, like I've needed in the past. Keep on asking questions, and ignore the fools.

585 do not answer restricted or unavailable calls better yet have them blocked takes care of that issue.

That is a curious head you have with the small thread plugs. I've got one of the last U's with a KEF engine (single block and head) and it still takes the 7/8's inch plugs (kinda expensive too). Glad to hear there is some way to give this engine more power...with the spacer and longer stroke crank. I just wonder how much it helps.

You hit the nail on the head. A true coward to call from behind a blocked number, and tell you what you should be posting/selling. This IS an excellent forum, and 99% of the people on it are good people. Now, if we would only lure that last 1% out to a corn field...

I have a 39 U with the single block/head. It also has the small plugs, 14mm thread if I remember correctly. I was told its an lp head. Mine runs pretty strong with it on there.
