Question. Is there a diesel head that has the same bolt pattern as an early 800 power unit? Ive never had the heads off of a diesel moline so I dont know. Thank You. |

Hey Mightymolinekid- I'm wanting to advance the timing on a bosch pump on a 425D with 504 jugs. Can you email me the best way to go about it?

If I'm wrong I'll take a beating but here goes anyway: don't know as much about the 800 but if memory serves correct the real early ones had cast iron pistons. So I THINK you would only need to machine one hole right between the cylinders in the jug...I believe its the only one the diesels have than the gas. I know its true for a 504 and similar. A G1000 roosamaster pump would not put out enough fuel but you need that core to send to a pump shop and put a 450 head on and open up the injector tips. Also use the diesel accessory drive, you may need to change your timing gear set to mesh with the injector pump drive gear. Sound possible with a lot of digging, some head scratching and maybe a whole bunch of beer LOL!! Just my thoughts....

If memory serves me, someone correct me if im wrong, the early 800 jugs are cast heaver than most on the top. I think you could set the jugs up in a milling machine and drill and tap the missing holes. I also beleve that you are corect on the later heads and a rossa pump (dont for get to get the lines). I feel what you need to do is find a G1000 and rob the upper end. I think the gas pistons should work as long as you dont get carried away with the fuel and timming. If Im wrong I stand corrected.

I knew that the 800 jugs were missing some bolt holes but im wondering if the jugs can be drilled and tapped? or could we run studs all the way to the bottom? mabie use some later heads and a roosamaster pump???

I am thinking no. The diesel head for one takes more head bolts.
