rear differential ?

Looking to find instructions or a book or detailed instructions on removing a rear differential out of a gbd ? i know or at-least know the gas tank, top tranny pan, shifter have to come off ,trying to find the best way and eastiest way on doing this. Thanks for your help and happy holidays.

Having done it more times than a person should have to, I adhere to the instruction given in the IT Manual. If you don't have one, I strongly suggest you get one. That said, once you have the top off the tranny, you'll see that the next thing is going to be to remove one or the other, or both, brakes assemblies, then out it comes.

Pull Off top, Pull off brakes, remove left seal plate, pull bull pinion shaft from housing( may have to clamp on it with something for assistance), take off rear cover, remove right bull gear nut and outer axle seal/bearing retainer. bump axle out. drop bull gear down and back at angle. Support carrier with wire across top of trans housing. now remove bull pinion gear and housing from right side. Lift carrier out!
