U Special and Z serial numbers

Hey guys, I'm hoping you can help me date a couple of tractors I picked up.

One is a U Special #01214543

The other is a Z #09702285

Thanks!

Did you check the serial numbers over in the left, under Research & Info? Looks like the U might be a "56", and the "Z" don't have the right numbers. Maybe have two "00" in front of the 9, then the total don't come out.

U Specials were only made in 56 and 57 with majority in 56. Your Z number must be motor number. The only Z that used 9 prefix was ZAE.

You need to take a closer look at serial number on Z - I would guess it may be 007 instead of 097. If so, its a 1953 ZAS (non-adjustable wide front) - otherwise either post a picture or post engine serial number and may be able to figure out what it is.

Here's the Z. The serial number is hard to read - I could have the first few digits wrong.

Here's the U Special and the Z before I pulled them out of the shed.

The rad cap is twist on.

I'm pretty confident it's a 12 volt machine. It has the same long skinny battery tray that the U Special has.
