MM R first tractor pull

Well I pulled my RTU that I picked up this summer at our local show, or I should say I attempted to....

Was mostly just for curiosity sake, there were alot of people wondering how it would do, and so was I. Lightest class they ran was 4500 antique stock, the tractor with me on it was right about 3500lbs.

Never expected to to any good but figured I could at least move the sled! But Nope! I tried twice, stalled it out both times. My official distance was 2.11 inches! At least I didn't break it!

I thought it was a pretty strong runner although all I've done with it was pull around a brush hog which it did just fine with. It never built up many RPM's though and I think this was my problem. With the throttle all the way it was only at a light hum, I don't know what the RPM was, but it never picked up much when I let the clutch out hooked to the sled. It just backed off and died.

So I think I need to take a look at the govener and throttle linkage. I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting at least a little more than that!

I was able to redeem myself a little bit, I was pulling 2 more tractors in that class, a JD B and a JD A, both of them did really well. Back to the shop for the MM!

I'm sure you checked twice - but you had her in first gear, right? Fifth is close enough for a nervous rookie to end up in by mistake. Even a stock R should have gone a little further than 2 inches! Just remember - It's not the size of the tractor, it's how long you stay in the field!

If the governor wasn't working right there is a system to adjust the linkage. Ask and I'm sure someone will help.
