U Special

I picked up a U Special this weekend.

It has a flat grill - very different then the U's I'm used to.

It also has smaller brakes then the bendix style automotive brakes I have on my 1949 UTS.

What did I buy? What's special about these tractors?

A MM U with a wide front and A good lookin MM UB on LP.

The UB in your picture is a Special. It has the flat grille, factory power steering, the oil filter is different, and I'm not sure what all else is different. A regular UB has the pointed grille like the U in your other picture.
I'm not familiar with the U Special, but I assume it would have similar modifications. Hopefully someone who knows more about it will jump in here.

The UB-Special had optional power steering. I have 2 without it! Factory brochure describes that. I think the radiator was different also. Just my 2 cents. Mike
