My first MM

Just picked up my first MM. 1949 RTU

We have a some JD's and Cletrac crawlers and one Farmall, so I thought I'd add some more color to the bunch.

I don't know much about the MM's so I'll be hitting yins up.

Tractor seems real complete and original. Runs great. Was told the motor was done 10 yrs ago and hardly used, I could believe that. The brakes feel like they are soaked in oil so I'm going to have to look into that sometime. It has hydraulics, but I have no idea how they all work. It's missing the cylinder, but I don't really have any implements to use with it anyway. It had brackets for something (maybe cultivators) but who knows what happened to the rest.

Just hooked it up to a brush hog and mowed a few acres of pasture last night. Was quite an enjoyable ride!

Nice to have the lights, all orig and not bent up. Cultivator mounts on front, would be first thing to go if mine. Hydraulics work any time tractor is running. Pump runs all the time, fills the tank under the gas tank. Pulling or pushing on the lever (if on there) moves the small lever on tank at right side. BUT, if nothing to move (like cylinder), you would need a hose loop to keep from binding and breaking something if you operate levers. Did they take hoses from cylinder area and connect? Cylinders come up on epay once in awhile, usually around $75. Needs to be actual MM cylinder to work right with system or they won't stay locked in position if other kind used. Does yours have a "Rockshaft" in front of you that cylinder operates? Can't tell in picture. Not all had that, but made more useful.

Nice R if you want the correct hose from the carb to aircleaner Welters Farm Supply (417 498 6496) has them and many other parts including oil filters. Good people my first choice when looking for parts. Enjoy that MM

So I spent some time in the shop this winter. Lucked out with some warmer than average temps. I think it turned out great. Still have a couple finishing touches like the air cleaner hose and tail light, but took it for a spin down the back road yesterday and was quite a joy.
Got everything working, brakes, hydraulics, new steering joint, new hoses, my wife made the seat cusions.
I need to get some clearer pics, cell phone pics are a bit blurry.
