Tire size question

My 1964 Big Mo 500 came with one ag tire and one industrial tire; both are 16.9X28. The industrial tire always seems to be the first to lose traction. I purchased a second 1962 Big Mo 500 for parts that came with 14.9X28 ag tires. I'm using the tractor for cleaning up after four draft horses, moving trees for firewood, and light landscaping. Other than a little ground clearance and a heavier footprint am I really loosing anything by using the smaller tires? Or should I stick with the larger tires and find a replacement for the industrial tire? Thanks for any info or opinions!

John, Your not losing anything on ground clearance
those are both 28" wheels. The only thing lost is
the width of the foot print from 16.9 to 14.9. With
what your doing go with the ag tires. That
industrial tire is most likely a heavier ply rated
and tire and stiffer too. The ag tires are the
better choice in your case. Or should I say MM!

Hi Kevin,
Good one! Thanks for the reply and confirmation of what I was thinking. Being my first tractor and all, I wanted aomeone with a little experience to offer their thoughts.

John , we have a 335 Ind. with Ind. tires on it . It is a flat out flop when on anything slippery, Mud , snow , ice or anything. Stay with your ag tires !. I have to use tire chains when I move snow with it. The chains work very good , as the cross links don t work down between the lugs . clint

Thanks for the comments. Same thing with that one industrial tire on mine. If it's wet, muddy, or on snow; that tire just breaks loose way too easy.

It's nice here today and the garden needs "fertilizer". Guess I'll be swapping some wheels and tires and moving some seasoned horse poop around.
