uts hydraulic system

i have a '52 uts without hydraulics. i found a u pump and i have a few open center control valves layin around. now i need a reservoir. i found a parts g tractor with hydraulic system. will the reservoir fit my uts? can i use the reservoir as just a reservoir and pipe in my open center control valve. if so how do i plumb it? do i block off some of the pipes going in and out of the oil line flange and reroute to my o/c control valve? do i have to remove the existing control valve inside the reservoir or lock it into a float position?
thanks, brad

A "G" reservoir should work, they look the same, I
don't have one to compare to a "U" how ever.
I have rigged up my UBs to work with a valve so
I can use other cylinders than the MMs. It is
easy, just hook up your valve in line with the
"pressure" line from the pump, then from your
valve to the reservoir . The pressure line at the
reservoir is the one with threads. (the suction
line to the pump is the pipe).
You will have to plug those 2 MM lines that are
with the reservoir.
I hope it works for you.

Not sure what the U's had or G's, but if the same as the R and Z's like mine, this is what I have learned/did. The square tanks that set behind the engine, under tank are pretty much the same, EXCEPT the bracket underneath that bolts to the bellhousing. The R and Z have diff locations of bolts, not sure what U's and G's have. On my R, I used the orig pump into manifold on side of the tank, then both hose and metal return tube are hooked up stock. My metal lines out of the manifold were broken off. I used hyd compression fittings on the stubs to go to pipe thread and then quick couplers. My top tube is pressure and goes to the valve input. The return goes to the other bottom tube on manifold. Mine is one-way lift only on the loader I have, so had to make a bypass from the "down" valve position to the return line with a tee in it. Then the cylinders are plumbed off the valve as normal, using tee to go to each one. I have some books on these systems and can look to see if they cover U also. I can scan a few pages and send to you if you write to me at [email protected]. There are blow-ups and parts lists. The systems all have Letter ID's for each tractor IF you should know which system is needed. I have to study manual to figure things out myself. Keep in mind these are small tanks, about 2-3/4 gal if I recall correct. Forgot to mention, I have the orig control lever on mine, but is just an on/off switch more less. Don't try the switch/valve w/out something hooked up, it tries to pressureize and can blow a hose or ?? One more thing. On my tractors the tank has a flat metal top part that tank sets on and has place for straps for metal. You end up replacing the one gas tank support with the tank and this plate. Not sure if U or G has more room and diff system for that.

Checked my paperwork, and it is for install on U's also. Seems you have to change the water pump shaft to run the pump, and it has an adapter flange for that area also. I also have parts book with listings for diff tractors. I can scan these if you want me to. I can send email or with address physically to you.
