Tractor Identification and Value?

Hi All,
Here's a few newbie questions. I did search this and other forums before posting. There's a M-M for sale down the road and the data tag on the right hand side of the transmission is blank. Are there any other locations where the tractor model number and serial number might be stamped or cast?

The seller claims it's a 1955 but doesn't know the model. It has a loader and back-hoe. The transmission is a 10A5608 and the engine is a 10A19200. It is equiped with an L500 loader but I did not get the back-hoe model number. Any ideas what model this tractor might be? The poor thing is in need of some mechanical TLC and major rust control. Would it be worth $2800?

And finally the left rear hub is cracked in two places. The casting numbers are 10A19854 and 10A10327. Are these made of a material that could be welded for repair or would I have to find replacements?

Thank you very much for any help you can provide.

John from NH

The crankcase casting# is for an overhead valve 206 or 220. since you said it had a L500 loader, it probably is a Big Mo 500, could also be a Big Mo 400 or a Jetstar3 industrial.

Did you look for the tractor tag on the right side of the transmission case, just below the platform?

I got a hub for my Big MO 400 from Don Rice in Geneseo NY. I am assuming your rim clamps on to a cast disk that bolts to the hub with 8 bolts. They are somewhat hard to come by, as far as I know, these were only used on certain heavy duty MM industrial tractors.

Hi T.R.K,
Thanks for the reply. The data plate on the right side of the transmission is just a blank metal plate riveted in place. The 10A5608 is cast into the transmission housing just below and forward of the data plate.

I have since found photos of the Jetstar, Big Mo 400, and Big Mo 500. It is definitely the Big Mo 500 as it has the square cast grill and squared off sheetmetal hood. I found a photo here...

You are correct on the hub and rim set-up. Both the disk and hub are cracked. Would you have contact information for Don Rice that you could share with me?

Thanks again for your help and your time.

John

:D I've identified my tractor...it's a 1964 Big Mo 500, s/n 16800699. I thought the data plate was blank...it had such a thick coat of primer the stamped info was obscured.
