ZTU - What's it worth?

I have a family friend whose husband left her with a '47 ZTU, serial # ztu 579960u, (and lots of other stuff) when he passed away. She would like me to get this sold for her but I'm not sure what an appropriate value would be.

The alternative is her sons taking it and selling it to the scrap dealer. I would hate to see this happen with any piece of old equipment but times as they are money is money.

There is a pair of Oliver rear wheels that I think will bolt on in place of the original ones. (Would probably make it easier to move around)

Anyway, let me know what you think it's value may be. Thank you.

Is this stuck engine? This is an early one for sure. You don't say where you're at (or tractor). I would be interested if close to IN and not big price. I'm thinking in $200 range, about scrap price.

Need a little more info on the condition of tracotr is the engine locked up will it run I would say some where around $250 for the shape of sheet metal and the tires could go up some if the motor is good or less if it is locked up email me at yousesteers@ yahoo.com if interested in selling with a $ and location

Sorry, I forgot to share that I'm in Iowa - the tractor is about 30 miles east of Cedar Rapids on Highway 30.

As for the tractor's condition. I would assume the engine is locked up. If it's not consider it a bonus, but if you're interested consider it so. (it's kind of hard to tell since we couldn't roll it around given the condition of the right rear wheel)

The only other "major" thing is a small piece missing from the flywheel. (it can been seen in the picture) I don't know if the piece is still around or if it could be welded on if it is.

It will be a few weeks until I can get back over there to change the rear wheel/rims/etc.

I'll have to check with the family what they would accept.

If anyone is interested shot me an e-mail and we'll get something arranged. Thanks for all your responses.

I spoke with her this evening. She (the owner) would be happy with $250.00 if there's anyone interested.

Again, I'll have to get the rear wheel(s) switched out in a few weeks to make it easier to load.

Thanks for everyone's help. Again, if you're interested e-mail me at [email protected] and we'll get something set up. Thanks.

That appears to be a piece missing from the belt pulley not the flywheel. That pulley can be removed and the tractor still run, if it is capabile of running.

Darn,if only a little closer! Is it gonna be a RACE to get to it first? Or, is it already gone? Ha! Where's the Enterprise, could Beam it up!

Don't get buffaloed too quick, this thing is worth at least $250. But at the same time - if you don't want it, you just don't want it! Good deal for someone, hopefully they don't part her out the next day...

You are correct. I meant the belt pulley NOT the flywheel. Thank you for pointing that out. I'll assume everyone else ignored my mistake, didn't catch it, or maybe didn't care. Thanks again.

Thanks for everyone's help in pricing a fine old machine with lots of potential.

I see Sale Pending with some links that don't show anything?? Anyway, is this sold then? Let me know if available. Can it be bought with later pick-up this summer?

At this time the tractor is still for sale "as is." She is willing to accept payment and hold the tractor to be picket up at a later date after payment has cleared.

Contrary to what I originally posted she wants to sell the tractor "as is" as opposed to replacing the rear wheels as I had mentioned. There is a set of wheels/rims that may or may not fit the ZTU from an Oliver 88, but she doesn't want to give them away or be bothered with having me or her sons switch them out. She would probably be willing to accept $150.00 for the wheels/rims which I don't think is out of line.

I hope that doesn't alter your interest in this tractor. Please contact me at [email protected] for information on how to contact her. Thank you.
