I know that you have to use the special cylinder for thew U/Z/R/G hydraulics, but can you use the cylinder on anything else? As well as collecting tractors, I also collect the special cylinders they made too, like the deere, IH, CASE, and Oliver Hydra-lectric.
 
Yes they can be used just like any other hyd. cyl. They have a lock out valve on the top part of the cyl. If a hose breaks the cyl will hold the load. ( as long as the valves are good ).
 
Thanks for the help Alan. I have never tried to use a MM cylinder from a U or Z on anything else before, and I had a hunch it was fine, but didn't know because you need the special one for the tractors hydraulics.
 
Back in the 60's I had a U nd the cylinder for it I kept when I got rid of the tractor and was going to use it with the John Deere we had. It woul not work, with no load and middle of strok would kick out the control all the time.
