I was just given a 35 utility with a 100 loader (my first MF). I had open the bottom plate on the transmission several years ago and got a hand full of broken gears. The trans is a 6 speed with a shuttle shift. My questions are: Is this the same service manual and parts manual as a regular MF 35. Are trans parts the same as the MF 35 and are they easy to come by (or is this an all winter project). The serial # is 1GM655001248 what year is it. Also what manual best discribes the rebuilding of the trans. This site is great it has helped me a lot with my 8N and 9N.

Paul,

I also have an early sixties mf-35 utility. I believe these tractors were built in detroit at the mf industrial division. I do not believe they are identical to thier mf-35 ag model counterparts. For instance, the perkins diesel engine, if it is diesel, has delco electronics, starter, gen etc. instead of lucas stuff like some of the agriculture models. Utilities also have a 3 high 3 low shuttle shift transmission so parts for your tranny will be unique to the regular mf-35. I have found very little in the way of spare parts for my utility, unless you can find an old massey dealer that is still in busness as another shop that may still have some industrial model parts lying around. Good luck, and if you can not get parts for it, let me know, I would be interested in the tractor.

Hope this helps, Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy. After a lot of internet searching I found www.sparexusa.com. They seem to have a lot of Utility and Turf parts. They do not sell direct but if your dealer does not have an account you can call them and they will direct you to one that does.

My suggestion would be to talk to a wrecking yard.
Replacing the whole tranny would solve a lot of problems for you, (unless you are very good at transmission repair).

Good luck

Brian

Brian,
The tractor has been sitting for about 5 years. My friend said it would not move in any gear but it does roll. I Need to get it out of the field and down to the house. My consern is more if I"ll be able to get trans parts and if a mf 35 repair manual is ok or do I have to find one for the MF 35 Utility.

Paul

Do we assume that it does not drive anymore in some gears?

Please give more information so someone can help you!

Brian
