I bought a 41 Dyna-balance mower at auction saturday. It seems to be in decent shape. (extra knife bar, and owners manual) The guy that sold it, had only worn out one set of knives, and had replaced the entire knife bar with a new one. I've already re-sectioned the old bar. READY TO MOW! i bought it with the intent of re-selling, but I need one myself, to move road-sides and fence-rows around the farm. I'm contemplating keeping it. OK, Here's my question. I've never had any experience with one of these mowers. How good are they? Anyone have one? Are they reliable? If I'm going to keep it' I don't want to be working on it constantly. Most of my previous experience with siclebars, is with a model 39 Deere. I don't want anymore pitman arm mowers. Is the Massey Dyna-Balance drive good/better/best? Thanks for your help. John

Dear Indy farmer. I have a mh dyna balance mower and love it. I just broke the sickle bar. You said you had an extra. It broke right by the attachment to the drive. Is there a chance you would sell me the other bar. I can replace the sections. I would pay shipping as well.

Thanks for any info you can give.

Hap

How much do you want for it?;-) They are great mowers, the 'Dyna-Balance' works well, parts are getting harder to come by. READ the owners manual!!!!! Grease where and when it says to and keep the belt adjusted. Should work out for you. The Owner's Man. should have a pic of how to remove broken sections.

I just got home from the local Massey Ferguson dealer. He rounded up all his stash of spare parts for the 41, and gave me a "deal". He showed me a few service papers on it. It seems that the model 41 was actually made by Vermeer. He said that they were extremely popular when they were "current". I have about $200 in it, with new sections on both knife bars. A friend of mine that has ALL Massey equipment has offered me $650 for it already. I'm trying to decide if he gets it. I might just keep it. Thanks for your info. John

$650, huh? You "might" consider how bad you needed another mower for that price. If you keep it, you should have good service with it, they are tough mowers. Good Luck.
