Massey 65 Normal Temperature

My normal temperature usually runs about 200 or so load dependent. That's at about 12-1400 rpm 2nd gear hi range putting down the road.
As of late, I think my thermostat may be sticking as it went up to 220 and then it went back down to 180 and crept back up to about 200. Coolant level normal and is a 50/50 mix. Radiator flutes are clear and clean.

I've been acquiring parts to replace the radiator as it has a pinhole I can't get to for repair on one of the flutes. While I'm at it, the water pump and thermostat will also be replaced. They are 50 years old so why not? I'll flush it all out good too.
I want to do it all real good while I'm into it.

What should the thermostat open at?
I want to test it before install in a pan of water. It's not marked on the thermostat.
What should the temp normally run at a moderate load?
Say running a 6 ft rotary cutter. I want to say it was about 210 maybe a little less last summer at 16-1800 rpm.

Its getting time to do this before summer so I need to get off my butt and get the rest of my stuff before summer cutting season.

Thank you guys once again.

(quoted from post at 22:24:11 03/22/19) The thermostat is part number 890991M91 (170 degrees).

OK, that agrees with my parts book an corresponds with the part number I ordered from this site.

I tested the thermostat and it is barely cracked open at 170 and is fully open around 185, maybe a little less. It's hard to control the temperature for a soak temperature.
Using two thermometers that agreed within their accuracy. An analog candy thermometer and pen type meat thermometer.

I think I'll call it good and be satisfied I have a proper thermostat.

Thanks again.

It might well be, though the fluid is clear and clean.
I don't have a way to test it.
I still intend to flush the block before installing the new one, so we'll see what comes out.

The only way to know if the radiator is clogged it to remove the upper, and lower tanks, and have it rodded out. Only a radiator shop can do that but as much as it costs your better off buying a new one pricewise. Just because what you drained out is clean doesn't mean that the radiator is clean inside (it could have had stop leak, or who knows put in it that is stuck in the radiator).
