Another step closer to restoration MF 35

Here is the original bonnet and side panels that have been sand blasted, dents knocked out after disassemble and new lower chin panel installed. Some cutting and welding to fix the lower parts of the side panels too. A bit of body work and some good quality paint with clear afterwards. It's been sitting painted in the garage since winter and we finally got around to getting some steps completed. Today was the decals. We also replaced the fuel lines and took care of the leaks at the fittings. I'm looking forward to getting the lights installed and wired on the tractor. Then the grille and tank access cover installed. We took the spring and summer off from the tractor project. It took up a lot of our summer time last year and becoming a bit annoying trying to source out panels and dealing with the non-sense. So a long break was nice and makes it easier to get back at it and appreciate the accomplishments.

After trying a few different suppliers for new side panels and getting panels ordered twice from both different suppliers, we just had to cave in and sandblast the old. The new stuff is absolutely junk and won't even bolt correctly to their own lower chin panel and definitely do not fit onto the bonnet. Doesn't matter where from. After consulting with a few UK guys that have restored plenty of these tractors the decision was easy to make and the waiting time a pain in the arse but hopefully others will learn from my feedback

Now I know the decal for Deluxe was not on the original 1964 Perkins diesel but my dad wanted it as ours is a deluxe model. The top portion of the decal Massey Ferguson 35 Diesel was the same as the original.

Good morning 2tractors;

Between 1962 >1964 the local MF Dealer sold over 100 MF FE 35's all with the Perkins Diesel.

Before 1960 the same dealer sold many MF 35's with the 23c's.

Here in North Western Alberta the 3 cylinder Perkins was the choice of Engines. The 23c's not all that common.

This MF FE 35 X was purchased new by my parents in 1963 and is my daily go to machine:

The MF 35 with the Gas Continental Engine never was common here in our Farming area:

The MF 50 was a common Tractor with the Continental Engine:

Wow, that hood looks great. I agree with the quality of some aftermarket parts. I don't think they intend them to be of restoration quality........and that's being kind! More satisfying to know it's done right and when you spray the clear on and get results like that, all the more rewarding.

Thanks that's good to know John Deere. I often dismiss the diesels with the English hood and assume they are 23c's.
