flywheel timing marks?

Perkins ad3.152 Does anyone have an aftermarket flywheel, if so have you checked to see if there are timing marks on it? The complete engine is an aftermarket/replacement and I can't find marks to verify timing.

The issue with the engine, it seems like maybe the timing is off. Engine seems a little sluggish, fair amount of black smoke under load and hazes at any rpm with no load. This is a new engine, and came with pump/injectors installed.

Have you tried moving the injection pump? Normally the flange ear mark aligns with the timing cover scribe line, but sometimes moving the pump away from the line will help. Try 1/16 inch either way and see if it helps, or hurts performance. Most I've seen is 1/4 inch apart, so don't go to far if slight movement works OK.

My next step was moving the pump but I wanted to verify static timing first ( if possible) I simply could not find any marks on the flywheel so I guess that's out of the question.

The IP has a scribe mark that lines up with another mark on the Timing cover. It's been awhile since I researched the effects of injector timing and symptoms but mine seems to advanced right? (sluggish accel, lacks power and black smoke

Here's a pic of the scribe marks. It looks like there is not much adjustment left for advance right? I think I am going to try retarding it first, which would be moving the pump downward or toward direction of rotation.

That info could help if I am ever willing to pull the front end off and timing cover. I forgot the specs but I think different models have different static timing specs. This tractor is a 245, seeing different timing specs per model was one of the reasons I was curious about what this engine was set at.
