I have a MF 34with 3cyl.Perkins.Runs good, but the governor has almost no response,I have to keep adjusting the speed control as load varies.AM I CORRECT IN ASSUMING IT NEEDS A INJ. PUMP OVERHAUL?Is there a way to verify the timing, like timing marks on the flywheel and pump?I'D APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE.

Should have put "injector pump" in the title so guys like Dieseltech can see it, but I am sure he will find this, and help you out. Pretty sure it will need a overhaul, it should control the engine speed itself once you set it.

Sounds like pump needs repair, governor should hold the speed close to where you set it. That pump is one of the easier ones to remove/replace, the drive gear has three bolts that thread into the pump drive hub, with a gear pin that locates into the hub face groove. Just note where the pump flange to timing case marks are, they should be aligned in most cases. Had a three cylinder pump in awhile back, drive hub had excessive end float and housing needed replaced on that one.
