MF 1130 Clutch

I'm getting ready to put a clutch in my MF 1130 and I'm
looking for a little advice or some pointers from anybody who
has done one. Any help would be great, I have helped do a
couple of JD 4020 but this is my first MF. Thanks

Early 1100-1130s used a single disc clutch, later use a two disc clutch with a floater plate between the discs. Dad's late 1100 finally broke a release lever last year and needed split. Brother thought he could align the two discs without the pilot spline aligning tool, told him I doubt his eye sight is that good, I know mine isn't and he NEEDS the tool. He gave up after four attempts at getting the two halves back together and borrowed the tool..

Be sure to drive wedges between the front axle and frame on both sides. Keeps the engine from flopping to the side. It's not a bad job. My wife and I did ours a couple of years ago. I couldn't find an alignment tool so I had a machinist friend make me one from polyethylene stock. Local clutch shop got the two disks, pressure plate and throw out bearing for less than I could get them on-line. Recommend you get the shop manual if you don't have it.

Rolled the front half forward. 3 pt. Bush Hog stabilized the back half. Had a trolley jack under the engine. Used a come along to ease it forward. When it was time to reassemble, we rolled it back by pushing on the tops of the front tires. We used 4 long bolts with heads removed to use as pilots to help in alignment. It rolled right together first try.
