Massey Harris 444 rear hub

Did the massey harris 444 come with a bolt on rear hub or a solid one connected to the axle, I have one that has both. Which is factory?

Which model, standard or row crop? Row crops used a nine bolt hub, tapered bore with a key. Standards used either 28 or 30 inch cast centers, tapered bore and the same key. All three used the same nut/washer on the axle end. The 44 and 44 Special used the four bolt clamp on hubs that could be slid on the axle on row crop models. 333/444 row crop hubs could not be slid on the axle, but rims have power set rails to adjust wheel width.

The tractor has power rails to adjust wheels, the right side has the 4 bolt on hub and the left has the row crop hub that could not be slid on my theory was that the axle/hub broke and they just robbed one off of a 44. On the 444 row crop which hub was factory? And if the no slide on one is how to you put one on the other side? Do you have to replace the whole axle? Thanks

So you have to change the axle in order to get the correct hub so you would have to buy an axle and hub correct? Is it hard to change out axles, also is it two axles that split in the trans housing or one that goes all the way through? Thanks

Yup, you would need one axle and one hub, on each side if both need changed. 333 and 444 parts are the same long as the parts tractor has the same axle/wheel setup.

To change it over, you will need axle, hub, plus a correct housing for that axle.I have a complete side,if you should want a unit ready to bolt in.
