mf35 perkins- original starter help

Hi all.

I have an early MF35 with the 3 cylinder perkins diesel.

It has the factory lucas starter which has been reconditioned beautifully- its only problem is the terrible factory bendix drive (starter drive, over-run clutch, etc)

It has a very unusual style of drive with a stack of clutch plates. I have been told that these are unique to a few years worth of MF35 and they very quickly released an upgraded starter drive with more standard overrun clutch assembly which can be retrofit.

Does anyone here know what that component is, part number, source?

I have tried google to absolute death but cannot find ANY information except for new starters and this is not an option.

Any help much appreciated.
 
Our FE 35 X arrived from England in 1963 with a CAV STARTER as per PICTURES:

CRANKING of the engine became (low to no rpm from starter) hit and miss!

The STARTER was REMOVED (1973 )from the TRACTOR. It was discovered the RPM was not engaging what appears to be a DEVICE to add more CURRENT into the FIELD windings? to achieve greater torque after the STARTER has engaged with the FLYWHEEL? A new internal device (current router?)was replaced (1973).

On or about 08/21/2015 once again I had the same starter (CAV) issue:

With NO parts available readily, I purchased a NEW starter with SOLENOID mounted on top of STARTER as per the pictures...not a CAV type: An original CAV STARTER from ENGLAND was quoted at $700.00 + dollars! This included delivery to western Canada.

A NEW starter is advertised for sale on this site "yesterdays Tractors" as per pictures.
