Good memorial day to all. I am looking at a Massey 595 , 4 wheel drive tractor and my references do not show that model. If you are familiar with that tractor model I would appreciate any info that you can provide. Thanks for your time.

I saw that one. I'm avoiding it because of the 318 Perkins engine. Other than that those French built ones seem alright. Cheap horsepower for what they're asking.

I passed on it because it needs a lot. It takes several turns of the steering wheel to turn, I detected water in the oil and the overall condition was poor. He should have advertised it as a parts tractor. I also noticed that the front drives [it is a 4 wheel drive model] were leaking and one wheel leaned back indicting at least a bad bearing. It is a completely worn out, rusty, old tractor.

Hi, probably missed the boat on this one. There were some engine and transmission problems with the early 595s. water getting into the oil was one of them. The Mk2 version addressed these problems. Whilst there were 22,716 595s made many of them are now scrapped or rusting away in some forgotten corner. Parts from MF may now be a problem and not many non-genuine suppliers will have stock of anything that does not fit something else. They started off as one-door cabs and later on had two.
