MF245 won't start

Tried to start the tractor yesterday, but the engine wouldn't turn over.

The solenoid / starter didn't make any clicking noises.

The battery is new from 12/17 and was tested to be good.

The last time the tractor started was about 2 weeks ago.

Where do I start diagnosing the problem ?

Check the neutral safety switch just below the air cleaner assembly. Could be a connection issue. Also make sure the ground cable is clean where it is bolted to the frame. You can also jump the solenoid with a clean screwdriver to see if the starter is making good contact, just make sure it is in Neutral and "S"(start) position. I have also jumped the safety switch while holding the key to start position to eliminate parts of the circuit. Take your time and you will find out where your connection is bad. Good Luck with it!

First place I would check is the battery cable connection and make sure there clean tight and bright.

Brings to mind my MF-240, would not start, because the PTO neutral safety switch wires had come loose. I think I kicked them loose. Reattached them, and she started.

Thank you MF#1,old and FBH44.

After jostling the cables behind the battery, the engine turned over.

Glad it worked out! If you are mean the wires under the dash you may have the problem again. It can be a royal pain to find which wire is the bad one. I would start with the wires to the key switch and the neutral safety switch. They tend to be the primary suspects after you have cleaned the battery connections, especially the ground cable. Good Luck with it!
