Lift Arm End Links

Are the lift arm end link brackets supposed to be welded in place?
My old ones are, and I suppose I don't see the utility of the small spring loaded bushing if they are supposed to be welded.

Mine are worn out and I have ordered new brackets, end links, and bushings to replace them along with stabilizer pins. Note that there are no part numbers for the brackets, but I found them on the eplace.
The Book says nothing about this.

Your lift arms look fine to me. That shiny bolt with the lock nut should not be there. it looks like someone put it in to replace the spring that should hold the small pin in place. The ball end is designed to pivot upward to make hooking up implements easier. you simply slide the little button pin forward this allows the rear ball section to pivot then when hooked up you raise the lift arms they will snap back in place. I hope I made this clear it is easier to do than to explain.

The ends of the lift arms are wallowed off round and the spring bushings are not there anymore. Also the bracket holes where the stabilizer pin bushings go are wallowed pretty badly, the stabilizer pins lack bushings and are about half stripped and won't sit straight in the bracket.
I had it apart for inspection and none of it looked very good. Its functional as far as holding apiece of equipment, but just barely and I don't really trust it.
I'll just rebuild it with new parts and weld the brackets back like they are now. Should be good for another 50 years then.

Thanks for letting me know how they worked.

yes the outer housing is welded in place to create a pivot point and lock housing for the ball end so it can be moved for ease of hook up
