I have got a 1975 Massey 275 loader tractor it will not start unless you have can make the contact just right on the start position on the hi lo shift handle. It is getting worse any insight on what I should go after first? Thanks

Sounds like the safety start switch needs replaced on the transmission case top. Hi-Lo Neutral shift rail is what activates it in Start/Neutral position. Look for a two wire switch, it threads in place.

Thanks I think I know what switch you are talking about. Just behind the dash panel on the right side. Two wires coming out of it, one to the ignition other to the starter. Any chance I could jump that switch and not worry about it? I am lead to believe that is just a ground switch. Am I correct? Thanks.

It's NOT a ground switch. The key start side goes down to the safety start switch, then to the starter solenoid. UNLESS the trans safety switch is CLOSED, the solenoid won't engage with the key switch. Trans safety switch is open when lever is in hi or lo, should close when in neutral/start center position.

Installed new switch and fired right up, went to move a bale and blew a hyd line. Never fails with this tractor.
