External / Auxiliary Hydraulic pump on a MF230?

I have a MF230 with a Allied 350 loader plumbed into the main hydraulic pump. It works, but the loader is quite slow and it's a pain when I am doing a job that requires me to use both the loader and rear hydraulics at the same time - for instance, when I clear snow with a rear mount blower and front bucket.

I'd also love to have rear remotes.

Is it possible to still get a front-mount hydraulic pump for one of these? What does the cost look like?

Assuming your MF230 is similar to a 240, there should be a provision on the front of the machine to mount a pump. 20gpm is probably around the size pump you'll need, but make sure you get one that's 20gpm at PTO RPM or less, that way you're not revving the crap out of the motor to get the flow you need.

Check out surplus center . com (take out the spaces) for pumps. It's probably an SAE type A pump, but you can measure the distance between the mounting holes to be sure, there's a chart on the aforementioned website to check against.

Thanks for the info. My other thoughts is that I'm not sure if my loader has it's own hydraulic reservoir. I'll have to go out and look, but I think not. Any thoughts on how best to mount one?

If it has it's own reservoir, it'll probably be in one of the upright posts where your spool valves are mounted. If it doesn't have it's own reservoir, there's no reason you can't pull fluid from the transmission and dump it back in there as well. It'll just take a bit of modification to make it work.
