Went and picked up the 204 industrial it's definitely heavier than a 35. Maybe Inno can answer this one. The power steering sector looks and is different than the 35. It's missing the piston the 35 has and the 204 has rams for steering. My guess is there's no swapping the 2 sectors. This one has the torque converter tranny. My plan is to turn it into a 203 or 205 with a loader.

The steering box with the big cylinder on it isn't very good for heavy tractors (it will bust the top off of the steering box). Since the 204 has the Continental gas engine shouldn't be too hard to find a 35, or 135 with the Continental with a plain 6x2 transmission. You could also find a 35, or 135 with the Perkins diesel, put the loader, and front end from the 204 on it.

Thanks PT, I own one of those ps sectors with a blown cyl. with the facing warped. I bought it that way then had to find a manual replacement.
I suppose the rear end doesn't care if what the engine is it's just a matter of all the small mounting differences between the diesel and gas.

I think your steering question has been answered but my $0.02 for what it's worth...I imagine you could switch the sectors and leave the cylinder for the 35 disconnected and connect the outputs from the sector would go to the front axle mounted cylinders. I've never had a 35 with power steering so this is just a guess. Using the 35 type power assist would very likely lead to other damage inside the steering gear. In my case, running my 202 without power steering and a loader ended up blowing out all the recirculating balls and destroying other parts.............twice.

On another note, I picked up a 204 forklift last year that has working power steering that leaks (gushes) fluid out the top of the steering column. I will be working on this soon so I might need to figure out a little more about it.

The front axle supports have the same style/bolt pattern for a gas, or diesel. I swapped the industrial front axle from my 2135 industrial with the continental onto the 1967 135 with the Perkins diesel. I put the old swept back front axle from the 135 diesel to the 2135 industrial, its pretty simple to swap things around on these as long as you have two complete tractors. My 2135 has the locking rear differential while my 135 doesn't, one day I will swap the locking rear differential from the 2135 over to the 135.

My 135 diesel with the front axle support/axle support from my 2135 with the Continental engine (my 135 was painted yellow over the red, and silver).

Thanks guys. Inno there's a write up in the project journal section over to your left titled ford ps repair and looks to be same system. This tractor is in pieces with rear end minus the wheels up to bell housing, engine removed, and front axle off. Got to get it rolling.
