MF 175 STEERING

I have a 175 with power steering that turns fine to the right, not at all to the left. Is this the steering box under the steering wheel? And if so, how do I fix it or where can I find a replacement?

That has power-assist mechanical steering, what you describe is the spool valve is not centered as needed for the same travel for left-right turns. Look CLOSELY at the spool link ends and pins, if worn the spool valve will have lost travel due to the worn parts. Best get a service manual, as setting that system can sometimes make a preacher cuss...

You will find the power steering cylinder behind the grill. There is a valve on top of the cylinder with a
turnbuckle type linkage. The common problem is wear in the pins at each end of the linkage.

I know what you are talking about up front, it feels like the steering box under the steering wheel. It will not turn left at all. what I turn right I cannot get back. Now the wheels are maximum right turn. Tomorrow I will take the steering rod that goes to the front off and find out one way or the other.

Try disconnecting the turnbuckle and push the valve in and pull it out with the engine running. You may find that
the front wheels will turn right and left.

I have a 175 that the front wheels where whipping back and forth, after checking the linkage out I discovered the oil reservoir was low thus letting air in the system. After that I decided to adjust things up front and while adjusting the large 3/4 inch fine threaded bolts on the steering arm next to the control linkage I found that if one bolt is turned to far it will steer one way and not the other, they have to be balanced and trust me they are fussy, even tightening the lock nut can throw it out of wack. good luck
