Making progress!

Making a bit more progress with the restoration of my 1967 MF 135 - the hydraulic 'plumbing' for the MF 40 loader is now complete. The second
spool valve, for the tilt ram, now has quick release couplings making it easier to fit and remove the loader (which doesn't see much work
these days).

Thanks, David, but 'operator access' is only from the nearside of the tractor, as it always has been!! Used to have a one door 'Duncan' cab fitted, so getting in from the off side would feel very strange to me even if the hoses were not in the way! They are carefully routed away from the brake pedals! Jim

Nice looking tractor and a lot of hydro hoses. Your tractor looks like is has a nice bed inside to sleep in. But for those that remain out in the weather and sun Electrical cable covers work well to protect those hoses from weather and sun rot. I covered all the hoses on my 8N.

You can buy the stuff with a slit in it or without the slit. If I remember right it's cheaper without the slit. But I found out the hard way...buy it with the slit.

If you just take a sharp blade and slit the stuff, it just hangs open with the slit about 1/2" open. When they slit the stuff at the factory, the slit goes around in a spiral which is impossible to do unless you have the right equipment. The slit stays closed that way. I have the slits facing down on any low spots on the hoses so any rain water will drain out.

Good tip, thanks.
However, the old girl should be able to spend her retirement with a dry shed to sleep in, unlike throughout her entire working life where she
was mostly left to sit outside come rain, snow or (occasionally) sun. I have to say, though, that 'sun rot' of hydraulic hoses or (anything
else for that matter) is not a major issue here in Scotland! Jim

Hi Jim,
I don't think that there was ever a more difficult cab to get in and out of especially if you were a bit well-endowed in the foot department. I have caught my size 11/12 boots many times whilst trying to turn my foot around.
Cheers

Hi David,
Agreed! And always a decision to be made - get out forward or backwards! And the (very) basic catch on the door ripped the elbow on countless pairs of overalls! Jim
