I'm wondering if the 3 cylinder perkins diesel can be swapped where there was a 4 banger diesel and does the 3 cyl. swap where there was a gas 4cyl?

Without going out and measuring them, I will say yes. I think the block casting of the Perkins makes up for the smaller insides. Any problems will be the exhaust location and fuel lines are all different. I will try to measure the gas 3 against a 134 after I eat lunch. I do have priorities ya know.....

I think he has a 23C in the mix here Rich, I measured them up, all the same length from the basket to the bell housing. 19 & 1/2".

Well me and my plans are all over 2 states with one massey having a 4 cyl. diesel backhoe 3165 and the other which is close having a gas 204 workbull z134. Both having bad engines the 134 is cracked while the diesel has a scarred crank. I'm thinking of putting the 3cyl. 35 diesel in one of the other 2. Mine is a 2 stage so I guess maybe each could have different spines. Tractor data shows a 6 cyl. in the 3165.
The 134 crack is right between 2 cylinders. An here I thought Toooneee didn't love me any more.

Buy me some GOOD beer, and I'll love ya again... Miner bought me some Shiner Blonde, now he can't get rid of me!
You have an extra Perkins 3 ? Lucky you. It will fit in the place of the 134, maybe not so easy in the 3165, maybe not at all.
Do you have the clutch still with the Perkins? Can you put the 35's arsend or guts into the 204? Then it will be real handy. You might have to buy some parts to do the switch, but just don't buy food for a few weeks, it will be OK...

Nobody ever heard of an extra but the good news is the 204 has power steering so that gives me 2 with ps. Then load up the 204 front axle with my loader off the to35 and the perkins.

Not so fast there amigo... is the power steering pump still on the Perkins? Cause the ones on the Z134 don't come close to fitting... I guess the rest on the 204- might- plumb up to it??
Gosh. Good thing it ain't Christmas... I'd be the Grinch...

Good point on the ps, truth is only difference other than being on different sides is the gas has a spiral cut pump gear and the diesel is straight unless I'm missing something.

Neighbour tried to swap Power steering pumps....did not match...

Bob I used a to35 pump which had the spiral gear onto my 50 by swapping the spiral for the straight cut gear.

Thanks...2tractors......:)

Bob I said that wrong I should have said I put a perkins diesel pump onto a to35 by taking off the straight gear and using the spiral one.
