My MH44 tub was cracked and welded several years back. I noticed recently a new crack has developed next to the old weld. The new crack is slightly over an inch long. The crack is where the tub meets the transmission under the shifter rail. Their is enough material between the crack and transmission to weld. I would like to try welding first. Is the tub cast iron or cast steel? I know I need a welder that can weld cast and have some feelers out for a qualified welder. I do have another good frame should all else fail but since the first weld job lasted over 40 years, It seems like new weld should work. I am trying to avoid all of the change out work involved in changing the tub. Thoughts and opinions appreciated.
