Looking at a massey 50 backhoe with a wore out 3.9

Perkins. Is there a gas motor that will swap into it ? Thanks

Why on earth would you want to replace a Perkins 4.236 diesel to a gas engine. It would be easier to rebuild the 4.236

Yes a gas perkins 236 or 212 I have a good gas 212 but diesel is much better!

O my, if you ever use a Perkins gas, then a Perkins diesel, you'd throw rocks at the gas...

236 gas would swap in but you'd need to get a different key switch and rewire some things. I can't think of any reason to go with the gas over the diesel though (Maybe $$$ but there can't be that big of a gap). The 236 diesel is a solid motor and parts are readily available.

Guys i know this is older but i am hoping you can help. I have a massy 255 with a gas 212 in it. I either need parts for my 212 or maybe could do an engine swap. Can one of you tell me if a diesel will bolt right in or if it would be a major ordeal to swap out.

The 4.236 Perkins diesel was available in the 255 so that would be a good way to go.
