135 Lift Arm Control

I saved my 135 from salvage 20 years ago. I just recently decided to put it to work. Engine, trans & steering work great. I have changed all the fluids and filters. When I started it, the lift arms went to the top and stayed there. With the inside lever set to transport, the draft control lever has no control over the lift arms. I pulled the + hyd. pressure port plug out, (engine not running), oil shot out and the lift arms dropped. I replaced the plug. I set the controls to transport and down, started the tractor and the lift arms raised and stayed at the top with the tractor both running and not, quadrant & lift controls in any position. They will not come down. Also, when the arms hit the top, I could hear a faint, high pitched squeal which tells me the valve control is stuck in the "raise" position. Anyone that can check my theory & give me some ideas of where to go from here...that would be great.[/size:cf52108c98][/size:cf52108c98]

Hi,
If the hydraulic system has not been used for 20 years or so I do not
think that there is any doubt that the control valve is not
stuck/rusted.
An easy way to check this is to drain the oil to the level of the
bottom bolt on the RH side cover. Remove the cover. Inside you will see
the vertical lever coming down from above which makes contact with the
lever coming upwards from the pump and control valve. When in the
raising position the pump lever should be leaning rearwards. When a
height has been selected the lever should be roughly vertical. When
lowering the lever should lean forwards. If the control valve is seized
the lever is likely to be leaning rearwatds in the 'pumping' position.
The position of the quadrant control levers will not change this.
With the engine stopped apply reasonable hand pressure to cause the
pump lever to move towards the vertical position. If you can achieve
any movement work it back and forth in that movement and increase the
movement if you can.
You may be lucky and find that the valve has stuck and not rusted. If
the oil is clean there may not be any water present to have caused
rust. carefully remove the drain plugs briefly and check if any water
comes out before the oil. Anything more than an egg-cup full and it
would be wise to change the oil. After this time it should be changed
anyway. Check the rubber boots at the base of the gearlevers. If they
are perished or non-existant new should be fitted. This is likely to
have been the point of water ingress..
Let us know how you get on.

When you refer to the right side, are you talking about the cover by the operators right foot that has the dip stick in it?

Drained oil level down. Removed cover from right side. My first time tearing into a Massey, but everything looks intact and moving as it should. ??. Having sat for a couple of days, the lift arms had settled down some. I made sure the inner quadrant control and the draft control were all the way forward. I started the tractor and the lift arms immediately began to move upward. They stopped short of the top due to the low oil level. Suggestions? Ideas? I've got one nice still shot and a 15 second video if anyone would mind looking at one or the other and giving me some advice.
