MF 250 steering cylinder rebuild

I have a drip coming from the cylinder cap. I removed the cap and can't see what holds the shaft and seals inside. There looks to be a large washer but I don't see a snap ring or anything. Does this cap with fine threads hold this together ? Got to be more than that... I tried pecking on the tie rod end but it still doesn't come out. I then stopped before messing something up.

you might have to tap that large washer in to the barrel and there should be a spring wire in the barrel side wall
